Stuart Hobson Middle School
Washington, DC
Garden renovation, water management and the establishment of new sustainable teaching spaces were the imperatives of this LEED Silver school modernization. Outdoor spaces are designed to be environmentally responsible, inspiring and useful teaching tools. Existing and proposed gardens are planted with diverse species suitable to the region and climate, requiring minimal watering. The school entry area is a large wildlife habitat garden that channels site water. Greenscreen panels support vertical vegetation; planter boxes support vegetable gardening.
