Turner Elementary School

Washington, DC

After having been closed for three years, Turner Elementary was renovated and expanded. The sea of asphalt and concrete surrounding the building was transformed into outdoor recreational and educational spaces. Raised planters with flowering trees provide a welcoming entrance; an educational garden contains native species to provide food and wildlife habitat. Tennis and basketball courts, a small running track and new play equipment are also provided.
